There is a region close to the Alps, little known which has always been the link between Tuscany and Emilia and is the valley where the Serchio runs; the Garfagnana. Ancient land made of peaks and green woods, it has historic stone villages that are a real wealth to visit and protect. Its largest city is Castelnuovo, splendid in its ancient function as an entrance to the Serchio valley coming from Emilia. Between the Versilia and the Garfagnana, the Cipollaio tunnel is connected, which with its 800 meters is the highest point of this tour. The return is from the middle valley along the river which then goes to bathe Lucca. From the sea to the woods and back, a beautiful film within the reach of trained cyclists.
